Hi there, after having had a look to different Spaniards speaking English, let's have a glimpse to the natives... Here you are some of the most distinctive English accents around the globe, for your eyes only.....
RP (Received Pronunciation) accent
Scottish accent
American accent
irish accent
australian accent
indian accent
Spanish accent
Multi-accent guy
Now, which of them did you find more difficult to understand? Which one was the easiest? Can you explain why?
If you still think English is too difficult due to the variety of accents it's got, have a look at this...
The ACHO's method
Hi, I´m Belen.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely, I think the most difficult is Irish, though I find Scottish very difficult too.
However, what worries me is to speak English like Botin, in spite of understanding him very well.
Hi there!
ReplyDeleteI really love the Tony blair´s accent and Ellen´s accent; I know that both are quite different but I always think thar they have a perfect pronunciation, each one with their features.
About the Australian accent, the last year we have a native guy from Australia at language school and he has a very relax accent, I mean I don´t know if it is common from Australia but he spoke so slow.
I can´t post my comment without speak about Botin, I believe that he has never studied English he had writen in a big paper something like that: jelo ai am ...
That´s all folks!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH, MIKE.
ReplyDeleteI REALLY ENJOYED THESE VIDEOS, THEY ARE HILARIOUS.
WELL, I FIND THE SCOTTISH ACCENT MORE DIFFICULT THAN THE OTHER ONES. NEVERTHELESS, I THINK IT´S THE FUNNIEST VIDEO, AT LEAST I COULD UNDERSTAND "ELEVEN","ELEVEN","ELEVEN"...
FROM MY POINT OF VIEW, THE RP ACCENT IS THE EASIEST, NOT TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE EMILIO BOTIN´S SPEECH, WHO EXPLAINS VERY CLEAR HOW TO BE A SUCCESSFUL BANKER, ISN´T HE?
I´D LIKE TO SAY THAT I REALIZED THAT IN THE INTERVIEW WITH WILL SMITH, IT IS MENTIONED THE EXPRESSION "RING MY BELL" REFERRING TO A SONG (don´t know if in this video appears the "bola de espejos de discoteca ochentera", if not, use your imagination, je! je!) Let´s dance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPYese-Hl8M&feature=youtube_gdata
PLEASE CLASSMATES, REMENBER: TO SAY THAT SOMETHING "TE SUENA" DON´T USE THE EXPRESSION "IT RINGS MY BELL", YOU SHOULD SAY "RING A BELL", I´VE MADE THIS MISTAKE TWICE, SO I HOPE THAT, WITH YOUR HELP, AT THE END OF THE COURSE I COULD BE ABLE TO SAY "ME SUENA" IN ENGLISH AND TO PRONOUNCE THE "S" IN THE THIRD PERSON.
HAVE A NICE WEEKEND!
María José
Hi! I´m Isa
ReplyDeleteI think that the scottish is the most dificult accent...
For me the American and Irish accents are easier than other accents, althought my english is not very well... but I want to improve it ;)
Hello I am Paco
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion the english accent more difficult is the Indian accent, I don't understand it, and the more easy is the E.Botin's english because his english has spanish accent and also because my english level is low, but at the end of course I hope to improve and understand the english of Pau Gasol
Hello, I am David
ReplyDeleteI Think the easiest accent is the Emilio Botin`s English, because I can understand him very well. But, this doesn´t make me feel proud because of the people who could see that speech.Foreingers could think that is the level of English that Spanish people have.
In my opinion, E. Botin must improve his English before doing this kind of speech.
Hi!
ReplyDeleteFor me the most difficult accent is Irish, althoug Scottish accent is very hard too. I don't understand them.I think Spanish is the easiest accent because I understand perfectly, but after listening to Emilio Botin I hope improve my English.
I THINK THE MOST DIFFICULT ACCENT TO UNDERSTAND IS THE SCOTTISH.THEY SPEAK IN A RARE WAY THAT IS DIFFERENT OF THE STANDARD ENGLISH.THE SAY THE "S"SOUND LIKE "SH" AND THE "R"SOUND IS STRONG,LIKE IN SPANISH.THEY SPEAK VERY FAST TOO.
ReplyDeleteON THE OTHER HAND,I THINK THAT,APART FROM SPANISH ACCENT, THE INDIAN ACCENT IS THE EASIEST TO UNDERSTAND,MAY BE BECAUSE THE WAY TO PRONOUNCE THE VOWELS AND CONSONANTS IS MORE SIMILAR TO THE OURS ONE
Very interesting comments, aye. Gotta say that, so far, Scottish (as the most difficult) and Spanish (as the easiest) are in the lead...
ReplyDeleteFROM MY POINT OF VIEW CANADIAN ACCENT IS THE MOST DIFFICULT. DESPITE BEING VERY SHORT, AFTER THE INTRODUCTION I ONLY CAN UNDERSTAND THE WORD " KOALA".IRELAND ACCENT IS AS WELL VERY DIFFICULT I LIKE TONY BLAIR, BECAUSE HIS ACCENT IS CLEAR.
ReplyDeleteAND THE EASIEST IS SPANISH ACCENT BUT IT IS VERY SAD, AND I WISH I DONOT SPEAK IN THIS WAY.
Hi! I think that the accent of Botin is very bad. He only learned what to say in the video. really, his accent is horrible.
