You go to the cinema with your boyfriend/gilrfriend, you step into this.....what would you have done?
dodgy cinema screen
Are you sure cultural differences are not really important when learning a language??? Have a look at this. And you?? Do you underestimate the importance of local knowledge??
cultural gap
cultural gap 2
cultural gap 3
And last, but not least, what do you make of that sign????
Enjoy it!!!!
The cinema video is very funny, a good reward for dare to siting there!! I wanto a Carlsberg too!!!
ReplyDeleteI think that cultural differences are very important when you are learning a new language, because you can be saying anythig that you don't want to say, and you can have a problem wiht you are speaking.
Finally, I love the sing about "save energy". I totally agree whit it.
You must be utterly brave to access to this cinema.

We live in a movement word, we travel for working, for enjoying and so on.
ReplyDeleteDue to that reason a knowledge of differences between cultures is essential to be good citizens of the word. Marian

ReplyDeleteI love this kind of advertising, they make you think about them or laugh what is really important so.
ReplyDeleteAbout cultural differences, I believe that they are important when your are learning a new language what means, a new world, culture etc..
For instance, in English you have to know that be polite is a big point for them.
Meanwhile you don´t know this you will be a weird person.
To finish with my post, the sign is the best way (and funny)to show how you can save energy.
P.D. I deleted my comment because I committed many mistakes.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteUnless my boyfriend had been a professional boxer, I wouldn't have sat there. Haha! I know, I'm easily frightened!!
Cultural differences are important to be known, not only when learning a new language but also when doing international business in order to be successful. Many American companies are negotiating with Japanese people and they all have to be aware of the cultural diversity. Also, they learn the manners and the etiquette that are practised in the other country even before contacting each other. Misunderstandings can quickly happen, and there's often no turning back...
This sign catches everybody's attention right away. It should've had a positive effect on energy saving of that city! Spain should try a similar one.
See you!

Hello
ReplyDeleteI probably wouldn´t have sat to see the movie, because I had thought that I was in the wrong room. I had asked for the right in the ticket office.
With regard to the cultural differences, I think, this is very important to bearing in mind, because of the repercussion that will have if you don´t want to understand other ways about doing things and thinking in other cultures.
At the end, I would like to tell you that we should respet the cultural diversity.
In the first place, it is hilarious how people think twice if they take a sit or not. Honestly, if this situation happened to me, I would sit down depending on the mood that had at that time, and how interested I was in the movie.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise, I would feel more embarrased if I run away because of the impresive situation than if I sit down, that it is what is suposed to do.
Regarding cultural differences when learning a language, I consider that are important to enrich yourself and understand that your point of view is not the only one, and what is suitable for you is not good for others.
To end up, the sign is perfect to catch people´s attention using witty humour, On the other hand if we find an standard sign saying:"turn off the lights" it would be nearly transparent for people.
Have a nice day ; )

Hello,
ReplyDeleteMike, admit it, you've shares in hsbc :)
Hilarious videos!
PD.: I fear I wouldn't have stayed in the cinema.
Pako, I wish I had enough money to have my own shares of HSBC, believe me on that!!!! I'd call that cinema a dodgy cinema, by the way....
ReplyDeleteCinema´s video is very funny.I think I´d have stopped and I´d have talked to my boyfriend during to seconds about the surprising situation, but then we´d have sat to watch the film and Congratulations!we´d have got a carlberg.
ReplyDeleteAbout cultural differences I think they are very important because you can doing or saying something in other countries and you´re wrong.Because of that we have to know other cultures very well.
hi,
ReplyDeletethe advertisement is very funny,i´m not sure of having a seat there ,probably i had started to think that somebodyin that cinema was kidding me.
Too many men.. with the "easy rider" look in one cinema.
talking about cultural differences you can say that the human being behaviour is almost umpredictable, so you can have manners and behaviours as countries in the world wide there are.
Definitely the sign have a very intelligent design foused to customers directly, in order to save energy and money in the monthly bill
If someone turns me on I´d like "him" to leave me there for a while. When the energy peak had been risen he must turn me off and leave me in the starting position(never in stand-by)until next time "he" turns me on again.
ReplyDeleteIs my explanation too technical?
Here you´re a song about this issue:

Maria José, lovely and beautiful clarification, not too technical at all. I see what you mean, turn on, then turn off then turn on again.... but never ever stand by!!!!! hahaha
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteAll the videos are very funny. I don't know what I would do if I were in that cinema. It depends on the film and my frame of mind.
About the second one, it's familiar for me because I'd heard about a similar story before.
Cultural differences can be a big problem, it's obvious, even in our own country. I mean, I've been in Madrid the last weekend doing a course and some colleagues from La Rioja were surprised when my friend had for breakfast coffee with milk and Cola-Cao... what do you think? is it strange?
R.M., got something to ask you. You didn't identify yourself properly because, a) you forgot it and you weren't really try to hide yourself, b) you don't want your classmates and your teacher to know who you are, especially after letting us know you've got a pal who drinks coffee, milk and cola-cao all together????? What a disgusting breakfast, mate!!!!!!
