Last night, at some point, I heard paco (na2b) saying how much he had enjoyed the film "This is England". Well, when I woke up today I just remembered that the first post I put in your so-much-loved blog was no other than this film's opening credits, last October 13th. Well, maybe chance, maybe not, I reckon it's a film worth giving a shot!!!! And because, and according to my mobile forecast application, the next days are going to be a bit wet, I considered it a good idea to recommend a couple of films.... this is england & drive
If any of you gets to watch, or has already seen, any of them, please I'd appreciate it if you left your comments about them. Thanks very much.
This is England
Drive
I've read so many nice reviews about Drive, so my Vuze is working now to let me watch it!
ReplyDeleteI´ve seen "This is England" twice. As far as I´m concerned
ReplyDeleteit´s a little bit rough, nevertheless, I believe that is a good film since it touches on the controversial issue of skinheads movement in the U.K in the 80´s. Also the consequences of the Malvinas War are reflected in the movie.
I have no comments on "Drive" since I haven´t seen it, although I´ve heard that the movie had very good reviews.
Drive! I´ve seen it and no doubt it is the perfect movie for a sunday evening! Moreover it is quite easy to follow in English since it is rather lacking in complicated dialogues. Togheter with your recomendations, I include mine. Funny, crazy and sad somehow but just fantastic:

Yes, Drive's got as many good reviews all over the planet as few nominations for the Oscars, something that, unmistakably and undeniably, states the poor quality of the so-called prizes. And, well, what can I say about "Withnail and I"? Cult movie back in the UK, utterly unknown here in Spain....in fact, if I'm not much mistaken, it hasn't even been dubbed into Spanish!!! what a shame!!! Thanks Marina, good choice. I especially agree with the bit "...sad somehow..."
ReplyDeleteI've to confess that since long time ago I hadn't enjoyed a movie as Drive. His amazing soundtrack is near to burn my car mp3 player, I never tire of listening to it, simply great!
ReplyDeleteCool, Pako!!! Burn you cd-player, yeahhhh!!!!! Glad you enjoyed it!!!!

ReplyDeleteYesterday I watched "This is England" ,and I recognise that the custome design suits pretty much with the eightie´s period in the movie. My favourite scene is when the little boy wants to buy a Dr. Marteens boots and his mother helped by the shop assistant discourages him of doing it.
ReplyDeleteI really love the soundtrack last theme("good time for a change",The Smiths) when the boy realizes that,(walking on the beach), he didn´t agree with the skinhead ideology.
